Work

His works often have no plot and are on the edge of abstraction. In many compositions he uses anonymous male figure that represents a painter. Significant means of expression is a fragmentary motifs, such as interior „framing“, zoom and magnification of its individual parts.Through his works Zakarauskas explores the relations between painting and a painter, raises the questions of the creator’s status and the place of painting in the world of art.

His paintings are characterised by a considerable amount of intimacy and self-reflection.

In 2011 he was awarded with Young Creator Award from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
